Lesson Book
The Lesson Book is the home base for the course. The ActivStats Lesson Book provides a sequencing of the topics without restricting free access to any part of the course. Like a physical text, the Lesson Book provides a table of contents, a glossary, the ability to place bookmarks, and a full index. In addition, the Lesson Book tracks your progress, "checking off" activities as they are completed. Your progress is stored in a Student Progress File, which also stores your name and ActivStats serial number so that they do not have to be typed in every time you launch ActivStats.
The Lesson Book is divided into brief lessons, each focusing on a few concepts. Pages introduce activities, state a goal for each activity, and change to summarize the activity when it is completed. Teaching takes place in the activities themselves, not by reading the Lesson Book. Activities do not begin until you click on their icons.
Icons in the Control Bar at the top of the page provide access to Data Desk, offer a way to move forward and backward in the Lesson Book, and provide projects and exercises appropriate for the Lesson.
