DBMS/COPY tm FEATURES

See The Data!

Why transfer blind? See the database before you do the transfer! DBMS/COPY is a great database viewer! You’ll even see the effects of record selection and new variable computation.

Variable Control

Why transfer every variable when you only want a subset or a specific variable order? In addition, take control of all aspects of the transfer including variable names, types, length, label and format. It couldn’t be easier! Attention Stata User! The "Shrink Sizes" button determines the minimum field size for variables.

Select Records and Create New Variables

Want to transfer only a set of records? Need to add a new variable? Want to manipulate character variables? DBMS/COPY enables you to select or exclude records based on any criteria - simple or complex. DBMS/COPY’s computational power exceeds most database and statistical analysis packages! Computations can include assignment and if-then-else statements, sophisticated expressions and access to our large library of over 100 math, trig, financial probability, financial, and character functions. The interactive equation builder creates an environment where building the record filters and new variables is easy and user friendly. The available variables, functions and statements are all just a mouse click away. For repetitive transfers, the equations and database names can be saved to disk.

Data Information

Ever get a dataset you don't know anything about? Ever forget what is on a dataset? The Data Information routine will generate a spreadsheet of general statistics, minimums, maximums, percentiles and discrete values for every variable. It's a great first step when analyzing data.

ASCII Data Dictionary Builder

Interactively define the fields on the ASCII text file. Supports both Fixed format and Free format files.

Spreadsheet Grabber

DBMS/COPY can handle spreadsheets where the data and variable names are anywhere in the worksheet. Just use the mouse to define the data area and variable name rows.
