SOFTWARE/DBMSCOPY

DBMS/Copy

Product Description

For over 10 years and for tens of thousands of satisfied customers worldwide, DBMS/COPY has been the choice for transferring data between software packages.  It directly reads and writes the native binary files for over 80 packages.  DBMS/COPY doesn't stop there, you get record filters, variable subsetting and powerful computational capabilities.

DBMS/COPY takes care of all the hassles in transferring data including: dissimilar numeric types, date variables, time variables, null value and variable name truncation.  Problems with free and fixed format ASCII files disappear with the ASCII Data Dictionary Builder.  The Spreadsheet Grabber enables you to visually grab from anywhere within the spreadsheet.  Complex SQL queries can be created with the friendly ODBC query builder.  You can use the built-in batch processing to automate repetitive transfers.

Principal Characteristics

DBMS/Copy For Windows

  • For over 10 years and with tens of thousands of satisfied customers worldwide, DBMS/COPY has been the choice tool for transferring data between software programs. Why? DBMS/COPY directly reads and writes the native binary files of over 80 packages.
  • DBMS/COPY Version 7.0 runs in Windows 95/98/NT/2000. If you are using Windows 3.1 contact us for V6 license.

Oracle, Informix & ODBC
For SQL based packages including Oracle, Informix, Sybase and others, DBMS/COPY uses ODBC. DBMS/COPY has a built-in query builder for reading packages with ODBC drivers.  (Microsoft Access is now on the list of supported packages.)  When writing to a package with an ODBC driver, DBMS/COPY will create the table.
DBMS/COPY for Windows95/98/NT/2000 can also append records to an existing table or replace a table.

DBMS/Copy For Unix

DBMS/COPY for UNIX, with its ability to directly read and write PC data, beautiful X-Windows interface and support for native file formats, will be your software connectivity standard.

X-Windows and User Friendly

When we moved DBMS/COPY to the UNIX world, we were determined to make it as easy to use and as powerful as our popular Microsoft Windows version. The database viewer, variable information window, equation builder, data information, spreadsheet grabber and ASCII data dictionary builder have all been implemented in our X-Windows version. Interactive transfers are so easy, you will probably never open the DBMS/COPY manual! Of course, the manuals are on-line and there is context sensitive help.  (There isn't even a DBMS/COPY for Unix manual.  You just use the DBMS/COPY for Windows manual.  The dialog boxes might look different but that's all.)

Read and Write PC-Data

DBMS/COPY for UNIX directly reads and writes the packages supported by DBMS/Copy for Windwos. Want to convert a Paradox file into S-PLUS for Sun? DBMS/COPY for Unix will convert it in one step. How about transferring a SAS/Sun dataset into a Lotus spreadsheet? DBMS/COPY for Unix converts it in one step.

With DBMS/COPY Version 7, you can directly read and write Excel V5, V97, and V2000 files.

NOTE, ODBC is a Windows concept and not supported in Unix. We have optional add-on drivers for Oracle, Sybase, Informix, and DB2.

SAS Transport Eliminator!

How do you transfer data between SAS on different computers? Do you run SAS on one computer to build a transport file and then run SAS again on the other computer to read that transport file? Did you know that DBMS/COPY for UNIX will directly read and write SAS for PC, Windows, OS/2 and UNIX? In one step you can transfer a SAS for Windows file into a SAS for UNIX file. Not only that, you don’t have to run a PC program to get the job done. The one step is all done on your UNIX computer.

Read Native Unix Data

DBMS/COPY for Unix reads and writes the following Unix based packages: SAS, S-PLUS, SPSS, Stata, Gauss, Systat, BMDP and Minitab. Optionally, the following SQL databases are supported: Oracle, Sybase, Informix and DB/2. We are committed to making native UNIX package support as comprehensive as possible.

System Technical Requirements

DBMS/COPY Version 7.0 is available for Windows 95/98/NT/2000.

DBMS/COPY for Unix is available for Sun Solaris, SunOS4, HP/UX, IBM/AIX, DEC/Unix, SGI and Linux.
